Our Results
The Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation
The Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation created a Benefits and Insights Summary to determine the value of Results 1st’s work with their grantees. The summary states that Results 1st built capacity of nonprofits in the following powerful and tangible ways:
- Clarity in Goal setting: Organizations learned to set specific, measurable outcomes rather than vague goals. For example, moving from asking “Has your life improved?” to tracking defined outcomes like employment, mental health changes, and social impacts.
- Strategic Use of Data: Participants were trained to analyze data for patterns and make informed decisions. This led to programmatic changes, like implementing monthly family dinners and improving communication.
- Ongoing Feedback Loops: Regular check-ins with participants and data collection checkpoints helped nonprofits adapt services in real time.
- Systems Integration: Some organizations began applying the Results 1st framework internally—from HR practices to hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and beyond.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Teams started developing shared tools that aligned staff efforts around collective, result-driven goals.
United Way Suncoast
Results 1st partners with United Way Suncoast to increase their partners’ capacity and achievement through the Results Team Program.
When asked what results their partners achieved, all persons interviewed said their nonprofit achieved the results they sought. Some highlights included:
- We got what we wanted and plenty more, we are a different organization in ways that boost achievement for our girls.
- We now know who drops out and when. We know when people change. We can see it in the tracking.
- We use your checklist for a great story—especially the third item of saying how many stories with similar impact we have. It really sets us apart.
- We learned to stop talking so much and to pivot to action. If something does not work, we try something else.
- The program was transformative, as we moved to apply tools to what was needed. We have increased our target for students screened.
- We learned the discipline of putting results first and tracking and verifying and communicating our success. That applies to everything I seek now.
We are now able to measure and sustain participant outcomes and use that information to address disparities in real time. We have shifted from compliance to making more impact and holding ourselves accountable. We continue to use the Results 1st methodology in grant applications and reports, conversations with donors, and to scale up our success.
The Florida Center for Early Childhood

- Defined the board member roles and created an accountability report for each member. Ex. They implemented that each board member would bring (2) new potential guests to tour the facility.
- They meet individually with each board member once a year this opens up 100% communication with the board. It created more meaningful relationships with every member.
- They got to know each member more on a personal basis and this increased board attendance and consistency with measurable actions put in place.
